Fly Action in Focus Part 1

Fly Action in Focus – a short series exploring fly manipulation

If you’re no stranger to Discover Tenkara and Tenkara in Focus you’ll already know both Paul and myself have extensive backgrounds in Western fly fishing. It was probably our extensive research, practice and (let’s be honest) obsession with modern competition bred methods such as French leader which gave us a running start when we first discovered tenkara.

Our modern comp-style fly fishing gave us a toolbox of skills which transferred well on our early tenkara adventures and it was reassuring to meet top level tenkara anglers in Japan (such as Shin Takahashi and Kazumi Saigo) who were eager to draw knowledge from those same European techniques.

Over time it started to dawn on us that the transfer of techniques need not be a one way street! The delivery method of long rod and light line in tenkara is not a million miles away from the long and light European competition fly rods… and a tenkara level line and good quality French leader could almost be interchangeable.

We put together this short series of videos and FREE short email course to share a few of the insights and revelations tenkara has brought to all of our fishing.

Fly Action in Focus in Focus – Part 1 of 4

Check out part 1 of the new series and don’t forget to sign up for the FREE short email course – this is NOT part of the regular email tutorials and is designed to pair specifically with these videos.

Look out for part 2 later this week.

Talk to you soon,
JP.
