Our Loss of Tenkara Footage Rights Means Much of Our Library is Disappearing after Jan 31st
So if you're an email subscriber, you'll already have had a heads up on the loss of tenkara footage rights that we've been hit with (as well as a special 20% discount on downloading Discovering Tenkara Vol 3 until Monday 15th Jan 2018). This is a quick post to let you know which publications are affected - FOLLOWED BY A SUITABLY DIPLOMATIC EXPLANATION OF WHY THIS IS HAPPENING...
Also - keep reading because I'll be setting up a blanket 10% discount code on the titles and bundles that will expire on January 31st 2018 (a Wednesday if I've read my calendar right).
First of all here are the individual titles that will be disappearing (Download AND DVD):
Use the Code "kibosh" to get 10% off ALL EXPIRING DOWNLOADS FEATURED IN THIS POST until Jan 31st 2018 (PLUS - until Monday 15th Jan, you can get 20% off Discovering Tenkara Volume 3 with - because it is the perfect match to our print book: Click for £GBP version and use code "shutdown1" until Jan 15th OR Click for $USD and use code "shutdownv3")
By clicking on any of the above download links you can get a full description of exactly what you get in each publication.
The loss of products (and the 10% discount code) also applies to ANY AND ALL BUNDLES that any of the lost titles belong to. So, for example, the Megabundles or Ultimate kebari design and presentation bundles. You can find a full list of products here (and use your discount code "kibosh" before January 31st) here:
There are more products that will also be lost (I'll get to the story of why below) and these are:
Again, because there are many currency options and bundle-combinations associated with all of these, the best option (if you don't want the specific links in the above list) is to take your discount code "kibosh" and scroll through to the product you'd like to get before it disappears on this link:
The following titles are not affected and will continue to be sold as normal (and don't have the kibosh discount code applied):
Why are We Having to Lose so Much of Our Inventory?
I've had a lot of questions about whether it is relationships with people featured in the products that has caused this problem The answer to that is "No, definitely not". I don't want to get too bogged down in looking backwards, but for the sake of clarity, it boils down to a previous collaborator who ran the website and contributed footage (and worked on edits). Although demand for work on free and paid footage and website maintenance outstripped supply, our offer of continued "one third of proceeds" payments for the lifespan of products we'd already worked on together was rejected. Instead a payoff and then removal from sale/use products that contained his images and/or footage was negotiated before me and JP were able to work on projects as a pair.
Does this affect the Karasu Rods?
No! - Those are entirely separate from this problem.
What about Tenkara in Focus?
Obviously we've just had a huge chunk wiped off our assets value, so we are going to have to bust our asses to get new products lined up...
This is likely to slow down the rate that we can put out free episodes for a while. MASSIVE thanks to everyone who has supported the production and publication of the free episodes through opting in to Premium download content associated with the programme.
THIS INCLUDES YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS INVENTORY LIQUIDATION SALE - THANK YOU!
None of our projects could exist without you - and the tenkara community outside Japan would not benefit from the Free blogs and video content that your active support of our projects provides for us all.
Yes it is a massive shame that some genuinely historic events in our little tenkara world will now be lost from the publication record...The best that we can do is to try to carry on and continue to capture and share the best content that we are able to.
Please do use the social media buttons on this page to SHARE THIS LIQUIDATION SALE & STORY page, it will go some way towards improving our chances to continue what we do in tenkara. Also, I'll do my best to answer any questions and comments in the Comments section below,
Paul (Don't forget to SHARE, and Don't Miss your favourite download before it's gone forever)
PS - NTSC DVDs (physical copies) are available while the final batch of stock lasts from Chris at TenkaraBum: http://www.tenkarabum.com/discovering-tenkara-dvd.html
